Forsmark International Forum

We recognise that the importance of international networking is key to knowledge sharing and that it provides opportunities for cultural enrichment, both professionally and socially. Accordingly, in 2025 SKB International will launch the Forsmark International Forum, a new membership network for managers, experts and stakeholders. The forum provides an opportunity to interact and learn more about the on-going and planned constructions of final repositories in the Forsmark area.

SKB started the work to extend the Final Repository for short-lived radioactive waste, SFR in Forsmark in 2024. The extension project will take about six years to complete. In a few years from now, SKB will also start constructing the underground facility of the repository for spent nuclear fuel in Forsmark. Construction work to prepare the area and also start to build some facilities have been initiated. The construction phase will take about 10 years.

SKB International offers to share the progress of work in the Forsmark area within the scope of Forsmark International Forum. Information will be presented continuously through a web-based portal, live streamed webinars and a yearly site visit.
